The SBJ National Sports Forum (NSF) was started in 1996 to foster the exchange of ideas and the cultivation of lifelong relationships between the NFL, NBA, and NHL. The NSF Challenge Cup Competition was created to meet the needs of students from top undergraduate programs who are embarking on their journey to a career in sports business.

 

The Challenge Cup is a 2 week-long case study competition designed to push students to excel in a real-world, fast-paced environment, similar to working conditions in the sports industry. I was part of Deakin University's team that won the inaugural challenge cup in 2023.  We developed an integrated marketing strategy for Angel City FC who compete in the National Women’s Soccer League, and presented to a panel of academics and industry professionals from the American sport industry. 

 

The presentations were conducted per American Eastern Standard Time, which meant our final presentation was at 5:00 am Melbourne Time.  Deakin Uni was the only international university and won the inaugural NSF Challenge Cup, over 12 participating American colleges.
