The Deakin University Sport Society (DUSS) is a student-run club providing professional development, networking, and career opportunities for students across Sport Management, Exercise and Sport Science, Sport Development, and Health Science degrees at Deakin University.

 

As President, I led the DUSS committee to plan, promote, and deliver a full calendar of social and professional events for a membership base of 200+ students, connecting sport students with industry professionals and creating opportunities to build networks before entering the workforce. Across the year, the committee delivered ~30 events, including our own social and networking events alongside a weekly Sport Talks series featuring guest speakers from across the Australian sport industry.

 

My responsibilities spanned the full scope of running a student organisation, from chairing committee meetings and representing DUSS as spokesperson at university and industry events, to liaising with the sport faculty to deliver weekly Sport Talks featuring guest speakers from across the Australian sport industry. I also worked closely with club coordinators to manage financial grants and ensure all events met the university's risk and safety guidelines.
