In 2023, Deakin University entered the inaugural National Sport Forum (NSF) Challenge Cup. Competing against 12 American universities, Deakin was the only international team in the competition and took out the inaugural title.

 

The NSF Challenge Cup is a two-week case study competition run by the Sports Business Journal National Sports Forum, designed to simulate the fast-paced, high-pressure conditions of the sports business industry. First established in 1996 to foster the exchange of ideas between the NFL, NBA, and NHL, the NSF has grown into one of North America's most respected sport business forums. Our team developed a fully integrated marketing strategy for Angel City FC, a National Women's Soccer League club, and presented our findings to a panel of academics and industry professionals from the American sport industry.

 

Given the international nature of the competition, all presentations ran on American Eastern Standard Time meaning our final presentation took place at 5:00 am Melbourne time.
